Harrison Township Veterans’ Commission

The Harrison Township Veterans’ Commission is made up local residents who have proudly served our Country within the United States Armed Forces.

Honor a veteran today with a memorial brick. The Harrison Township Veteran’s Memorial ‘Hero Lane’ is located at entrance of the William Wilt Soccer Complex; the walkway to the memorial is lined with engraved pavers honoring those veteran’s who have given of themselves in honor of their country. Membership

For those interested in becoming members, you can review membership eligibility rules on the American Legion website here. As a quick summary A VETERAN IS A VETERAN – which means The American Legion embraces all current and former members of the military. Those who wish to review Public Law 116-35 of the 116th Congress, known as the Legion Act can see a copy here.

Homeless Veteran Outreach
The American Legion offers hundreds of opportunities for homeless veterans across the country, including temporary housing, mentoring and job training.

  • Home Depot
    • 10% Military Discount: Home Depot’s 10% discount is applicable to purchases with a $500 maximum discount. There are some exclusions, including installation products or services, Gift Cards, special buy appliances, and some commodities, such as building materials. The discount is not available for online purchases.
    • Eligibility – U.S. stores: The discount is offered in the U.S. to all active duty military personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families. Veterans who do not have a VA service-connected disability rating may only be eligible for the military discount during national holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day.
    • Military ID: To use Home Depot’s discount, you should present acceptable proof of military service.
  • Lowe’s
    • To receive the Everyday 10% Military Discount, you must be currently serving in or a veteran of the US armed forces or be the immediate family member (Spouses and/or dependent children up to 18 years old). Once the service member signs up for the discount program on Lowes.com, it will be linked to a MyLowe’s card that may also be used by immediate family.
    • Enroll in the program online. Lowe’s uses a trusted third party to verify eligibility status for online enrollment and may require additional documentation or proof of eligibility.
